Saturday, May 22, 2010 - Engine 45 was asked to stand-by at the Mont Clare Fire Co. (Montgomery County Station 55) during their 100th. Anniversary Banquet Celebration. During the stand-by the crew of ten from Engine 45 (Lt. Stevens) and Squad 45 (Lt. Panetti) enjoyed a great dinner at the Fitzwater Inn, compliments of the MCFC.
With an hour remaining in our shift, without any calls, the team was dispatched at 10:55 PM for a tree down on vehicles in the area of Lock 60, between the Schuylkill River and Canal. EMS was already on location and in the process transporting several people from two families to a local hospital to be check-out for injuries.
Two families were fishing on the bank of the river, when suddenly a large tree fell across two pick up trucks where the people were sitting on the tail gate. The crews from the Engine and Squad assisted with the removal of the tree and saving the the lunker-catfish in the cooler!
