Tuesday, May 29, 2012 - It is with deep regret that the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 of Downingtown, PA announces the following:
Whereas, the Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom has removed from our midst on Monday, May 28, 2012, one of our beloved brothers, Timothy J. Larkin, who was always found faithful in the discharge of his duties and whose every thought and purpose was for the welfare of his company and department. And, while we deeply regret and mourn the loss sustained in the death of our late brother, we bow in humble submission to the Divine Will.
Therefore, be it resolved that we, the members of the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 of Downingtown, PA, do hereby extend and convey to the bereaved family and friends our deep and heartfelt sympathy.
Tim became an active member of the Alert Fire Co. in 2006 at age 16 as a Junior Firefighter. He quickly became involved in many aspects of the company, among them training, participating in the DFD Color/Honor Guard and fund-raising. As soon as Tim turned 18 years old he enrolled and received his National Pro-Board Firefighter I Certification in addition to being certified as an EMT. And, just recently he became a Paramedic.
Tim was a second generation Alert member. His father Kevin J. Larkin was a past Lieutenant and is currently an Active Firefighter with the company. Tim was employed in the EMS Divisions of the Good Fellowship Ambulance Club and the Malvern Fire Co. as a paramedic.
In addition to his parents, Kevin and mother Maureen A. Larkin, he is survived by his sister Tara E. Larkin of Phoenixville; grandparents Lillian and Fredrick McKeown of Sarasota FL.
Friends will be able to visit with the Larkin family on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335.
