Friday, July 6, 2012 - The DFD was busy today in Coatesville, West Chester, Downingtown and East Caln Twp., as follows:
Just after 4:00 AM, Rescue 45 and Air-Light 46 were dispatched as Special Service units on the Working Fire Dispatch for a working building fire to assist Stations 41 and 43 (Coatesville FD) in the 500 Block of E. Chestnut St. in the City of Coatesville. The crew from Rescue 45 (Lt. Marks) were instructed to enter the house and check for heat or fire extension, as a result of detached garage fire to the rear of the house. After the crew was finished in the house, they assisted the engine companies with mopping-up any hot-spots in the garage.
At 7:00 AM, as Stations 51, 52 and 53 (West Chester FD) were fighting a working building fire at Las Vegas Pizza on Gay St in the Borough of West Chester, Tower 45 (Firefighter Stevens) was dispatched to relocate to Station 53 (Fame Fire Co. No. 3) as a First-Due Truck Co. covering for Ladder 53.
As the temperatures during the day and evening rose to the mid-to-high 90's, the DFD responded to three automatic fire alarms in the Borough of Downingtown and East Caln Twp. All three alarms were false, due to a faulty systems.
