Thirty-eight members of the DFD Active Force participated the first of four water rescue training events.  This first course was Water Rescue Awareness for the First Responder.  The volunteers learned such things as scene assessment, evaluation of potential and existing water hazards, rescue vs. recovery and personal safety measures.

The course was taught by Todd Stahl of WhiteCap Water Rescue Training ( www.whitecaprescue.com ).  Part two of the courses, PA Basic Boating, will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2009.  Upon completion of all of the water rescue courses, the volunteers will be nationally certified in Emergency Water Rescue Emergencies.
