At 9:58 PM, Friday evening, Brush 45 and Engine 46-1 plus several additional area units were dispatched to assist Station 39 (West Bradford Fire Company) with an approximately 200’ x 400’ mulch and wood pile fire at Highland Orchards in West Bradford Twp. The crew from Brush 45 assisted with fire suppression at the main body of the fire, while Engine 46-1 was on fire patrol and extinguished spot fires on Sherwood Drive. Over night Engine 46-1 assisted with one of the two tanker fill sites.
The DFD volunteers returned to Downingtown, just after 6:30 AM, Saturday morning with an extensive cleanup of equipment.
On Saturday afternoon, at 2:30 PM, Brush 45 was dispatched with an additional brush truck and three tankers back to the wood pile fire to help keep the fire contained to the area of origin.
The Alert volunteers returned to station at 8:00 PM.
