The Downingtown Fire Dept. Fire Prevention Committee recommends that when you change your clocks this weekend, that you change the batteries in your Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Detectors, as well.
At 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 8, 2026 you will be changing your clocks ahead one hour, which means that Daylight Savings Time will begin and Standard Time will end. Please take this time, this weekend to make changing your batteries a family project. In addition to changing your batteries, please check the date that is located on your Smoke Alarm. It is recommend that you also replace your Smoke Alarms every ten years and test them at least once per month.
Something as simple as having a fresh battery may save your life!
